HEINE has introduced a new generation of diagnostic instruments – the HEINE series!
It includes the BETA otoscope, BETA ophthalmoscope, and the GAMMA 3.2 stethoscope.
The instruments of the series feature a durable lightweight frame, modern LED illumination, and well-thought-out ergonomics.
These instruments have been completely reimagined and redesigned for physicians’ daily practice,
– emphasizes the manufacturer.
It is expected that later the lineup will be expanded with a dermatoscope of the same family – inheriting the key innovations of the series and becoming the next step in updating HEINE’s product portfolio.
The HEINE BETA Otoscope is equipped with a built-in lateral LED light (on the side of the body) and a removable optical lens. This is the world’s first otoscope with two independent light sources and interchangeable optical modules.
The device integrates an additional HEINE inSPECT light for examining the throat, pupil reaction, and other areas immediately after otoscopy. HEINE notes that this is the first otoscope in the world with such a feature – enabling the physician to illuminate the oropharynx or check pupil response without changing instruments.
The new HEINE -CHANGE system allows for quick expansion of the otoscope’s capabilities with interchangeable modules. Available are replacement magnifying lenses with 3x and 4.2x magnification (for different fields of view and resolutions), as well as a universal smartphone adapter – making it easy to capture digital images directly through the otoscope.
A large viewing window provides a wide field of view inside the ear. The LEDHQ fiber optic illumination delivers bright, uniform light with natural color rendering for detailed examination. The instrument includes an integrated port for pneumatic otoscopy (tympanic membrane testing) and allows switching between two brightness levels for the main and lateral illumination – all controlled by a single button on the handle.
The otoscope is built on a single-piece aluminum frame to which all components are mounted. This construction provides strength (the device withstands drops and impacts without damage) while reducing weight. The BETA is noticeably lighter than previous models (BETA 200 series) thanks to the aluminum and specially reinforced plastic housing. The instrument is well-balanced in the hand, and its seamless smooth surface makes cleaning and disinfection easy.
The HEINE BETA Ophthalmoscope is the company’s most advanced direct ophthalmoscope. The updated AOS+ optics eliminate glare, while the FocusControl function allows focus to be switched at the push of a button.
The new Aspherical Optical System Plus (AOS+) is even more effective in eliminating corneal and iris reflections by separating light and viewing beams. As a result, the physician obtains a clear, sharp image of the fundus without distracting glare.
provides uniform lighting with accurate color rendering for high-contrast, detailed retinal examination.
The special FocusControl function allows instant switching of focus from the fundus to anterior eye structures. This means the ophthalmoscope can be instantly adjusted for corneal and anterior chamber examinations – with magnification and slit aperture, for example, when searching for foreign bodies or assessing trauma. This extended functionality makes it easier to examine the eye with “one instrument.”
The BETA Ophthalmoscope is equipped with seven apertures (diaphragm disc), including large and small spot, fixation target, slit aperture, and more. All apertures can be used in combination with filters: a built-in green (red-free) filter and a new polarization filter. Polarization reduces glare and stray light when needed or can be disabled, for example, to better distinguish retinal vessel reflexes (the “copper/silver wire” effect). A wide diopter range with 74 steps from –36D to +38D ensures highly accurate focusing, even in patients with high ametropia.
Like the otoscope, the new ophthalmoscope is built on a sturdy lightweight aluminum frame, making it comfortable in the hand. The optical system is hermetically sealed from dust, protecting the internal lenses and mirrors and extending service life. The interface is thoughtfully designed: a microprocessor-controlled brightness adjustment wheel allows both quick changes and precise fine-tuning. Brightness is continuously adjustable from 1% to 100%, and when powered on, the last used level is automatically restored.
equipped with a charge indicator, auto shut-off function, and rechargeable via USB-C or docking station.
The HEINE GAMMA 3.2 is an updated acoustic stethoscope. The aluminum dual-sided chestpiece reduced its weight to 120 g, while the new design improved ergonomics and sound transmission.
The GAMMA 3.2 model received many improvements over its predecessor. The binaural tubes are now angled optimally, while the new soft ear tips provide better fit and noise isolation. The spring that creates tension in the tubes is integrated inside (without an external clip), enhancing reliability and comfort. All changes aim to improve physician comfort during prolonged use.
Special attention was given to reducing the stethoscope’s mass. Its dual-sided chestpiece is made of aluminum, reducing the weight of this component by about 60% compared to the previous model. The total weight of the GAMMA 3.2 is just 120 g – the stethoscope is almost unnoticeable around the neck, reducing daily strain on the physician.
The new chestpiece combines two sides: diaphragm and open bell. Switching between them covers all necessary frequency ranges for auscultation. A high-quality 44 mm diaphragm captures high and mid frequencies, while the 30 mm open bell effectively transmits low frequencies. The sound travels through a single-channel acoustic pathway without distortion, ensuring clear, loud sound.
The stethoscope is made from robust materials designed for intensive daily use. The diaphragm can be easily replaced when worn out. Like the other instruments in the series, the GAMMA 3.2 comes with a 5-year factory warranty – proof of its reliability. Production remains in Germany, ensuring high-quality assembly and strict control at all stages.
The new HEINE diagnostic series draws the attention of medical institutions for several reasons.
Advanced optical and acoustic solutions directly improve diagnostic quality. For example, glare-free AOS+ optics and bright LED illumination give physicians a more detailed view of the examined area. This increases the chances of detecting pathological changes at an early stage and reduces the risk of missed diagnoses. Improved stethoscope acoustics help capture subtle sounds and tones essential for accurate diagnosis.
Reduced weight and ergonomic design of the series instruments mean less fatigue for physicians during long hours of work. The instruments are comfortable in the hand, and the controls are intuitive, keeping the focus on the examination. Seamless smooth surfaces make cleaning and disinfection easier. Quick and thorough reprocessing between patients ensures compliance with strict infection safety standards in clinics.
The series instruments are multifunctional, saving physicians time. The BETA otoscope is not just for ear examination – it can also illuminate the throat or check pupils without switching to another device. The ophthalmoscope with FocusControl allows instant transition from fundus examination to corneal assessment in trauma cases, replacing an additional magnifying tool. Such flexibility means fewer instrument changes and a faster, more streamlined patient examination.
The series is designed for long service life. The aluminum frame and impact-resistant housing protect the instruments from damage during drops or heavy use. This reduces clinics’ repair and replacement costs. The manufacturer provides a 5-year warranty on all new models, confirming their reliability. Fewer breakdowns and downtimes mean more confidence that the instruments will always be ready to use.
The HEINE -CHANGE system supports smartphone connection to the otoscope. Physicians can easily capture images of the tympanic membrane or throat directly through the eyepiece – for documentation in patient records or consultation with colleagues. Digital imaging enhances treatment monitoring and education, integrating primary diagnostics into modern digital workflows in clinics.
The new HEINE series offers medical professionals significantly improved instruments for primary diagnostics. The otoscope and ophthalmoscope of this lineup set a new standard through a combination of innovative optics, flexible features, and durable lightweight design. The updated GAMMA 3.2 stethoscope completes the set, providing high-quality auscultation with reduced weight.
For physicians and hospitals, this means higher-quality examinations, easier workflows, and long-term benefits from reliable equipment. The HEINE series demonstrates how modern technologies can enhance familiar medical tools, making them more effective and convenient for daily practice.
