In medicine, everything begins with an accurate diagnosis – the earlier it is made, the better. This requires light of the highest quality. LEDs are being used more and more frequently – but not every LED is equally good.
HEINE has set a new standard – from material selection to workmanship quality, from light output to brightness control, from heat management to the highest possible color rendering index – only the best is considered acceptable.
We call this “HEINE Quality LED”, or simply LEDHQ.
To evaluate how precisely and evenly the examination field is illuminated, how naturally colors are rendered, and how long the LED lighting maintains its quality, we have defined several key criteria.
Every HEINE instrument with LEDHQ technology is designed to provide optimal illumination for its specific application. Depending on the area of use, the instrument is either factory-set or allows continuous brightness adjustment. For example, during ophthalmological examinations, the minimum necessary brightness is used – while maintaining diagnostic accuracy.
For smooth brightness control from 3% to 100% across all heads with adjustable brightness, the HEINE BETA LEDHQ received a patent in early 2018. In addition, the LEDHQ light is distributed evenly across the entire field of view.
Result: uniform illumination to the edges, without glare, shadows, or bright/dark spots.
The Color Rendering Index CRI indicates how realistically colors are rendered compared to natural daylight. HEINE LEDHQ instruments achieve excellent CRI values, ensuring that physicians see colors “as they are” – reliably and accurately. Red appears red, blue appears blue.
Thanks to special heat management and the use of materials such as ceramics, heat-conductive films, and aluminum cooling elements, LEDHQ always operates within the optimal temperature range. This ensures stable quality and an almost unlimited service life.
Instruments with LEDHQ require no maintenance, as there is no need to replace the light source. The high efficiency of LEDHQ and its low power consumption also extend battery runtime and lifespan. Altogether, this contributes to the ecological balance of our instruments.
For the safe use of light sources, we design and test all our products according to their intended purpose and the requirements of relevant standards. This makes HEINE instruments special – not all market participants adhere to such strict standards.
HEINE continues to move forward – towards even greater reliability and convenience. Forget about replacing bulbs – that’s now a thing of the past. For many instruments that previously used Xenon Halogen (XHL) bulbs, HEINE now offers new LEDHQ modules.
The LEDHQ module is available for the following HEINE instruments (2.5 V or 3.5 V):
HEINE Optotechnik – Quality Made in Germany. Verification.
